Dear NYC Colleagues and Students,
The 2020 Vision School initiative is an excellent opportunity for churches to intentionally connect and work with a local school. The Coalition is a thoughtful, professional and cutting-edge group of urban youth workers from the NYC area. I wholeheartedly endorse this program.

Excerpts of my upcoming book
When I think about “Leadership” I am faced with the unfortunate reality that it is not what it should be. For many of today, its interpretation and definition is based on popularity rather then influence. We must understand the difference between the two. Just because you are popular does not mean others are willing to follow you. For example, If you to take one of today’s most famous celebrities (examples: Paris Hilton, Oprah, or Brad Pitt) and put them in a place of influence which will affect the current issues of our nation, do you think you would be able to follow them base on their celebrity status? Of course, anyone in their right mind would say NO! Then why is it many churches today run on a celebrity status mindset when it comes to leadership? Just because you are popular does not qualify you as a leader. A true leader is not one who is popular, nor is he one who demands respect. A leader is simply who has the ability to move other based on their influence, which comes from a servants heart.
